Warm and bathing weather at the weekend – colder next week

After a few days with warm temperatures, spring is making a retreat on a broad front. Next week will be significantly colder, with a risk – or chance, for those who prefer it – of snow in many places.

In Malmö, it was up to 17 degrees warm on Saturday and TT's photographer captured both sea fog and bathers on camera in Västra Hamnen.

Over the past few days, it has also been relatively warm in parts of the country, thanks to a high-pressure system that came in from the southwest. And on Sunday, it looks like it will continue to be fairly warm, mainly in Götaland.

But next week, it looks like it will be a return to winter jackets and warmer shoes in large parts of the country.

Already during the night to Sunday, a warm front will move in over southern Norrland with snowfall, and it is expected to snow until Monday evening.

It's not at warning level, but since it's going to snow for two days in this area, it can still pile up and become a few decimeters, says Kristin Hallberg, meteorologist at SMHI.

On Monday, colder and drier air will move in over northern Norrland, and on Tuesday, the cold air will move south and minus degrees are expected even in Svealand. And on Wednesday, a low-pressure system will move in over Götaland.

It looks like there will be mixed precipitation – rain in southern Götaland and some snow-blended over northern Götaland and southern Svealand, says Kristin Hallberg.

Towards Wednesday-Thursday, the snowfall looks like it will subside and currently, minus degrees are expected towards the end of next week.

How long the expected cold will stay before spring can reassert itself is hard to say, given the uncertainty of forecasts more than ten days ahead.
