TV4's "Idol" is now over halfway through the season and the theme for this week's Saturday final was duets. The Idol contestants were paired up with established artists and together they sang the artists' own songs.
The setup worked well among the Idol contestants, several of whom got to sing duets with their idols.
Generally, there was much praise for the "idols'" performances this evening.
Voting problems
During the evening, Idol had problems with voting when it was not possible to vote in the TV4 Play app, but it was still possible to vote by calling and texting.
When the TV audience had had their say, it was Ella Ekholm and Lukas Söderholm who received the fewest votes and would therefore have to leave the program.
The first to be eliminated was Ella Ekholm, 19, who performed a duet with The Sounds singer Maja Ivarsson. Already last week, she was close to being eliminated but was saved by jury member Katia Mosally.
I'm so glad I saved you, she said.
It's incredible. You're needed and you deserve to be here. You're a star, said jury member Peg Parnevik after the performance.
Sad jury
Lukas Söderholm, 23, who performed a duet with Louise Lennartsson from the group Estraden, became the evening's second contestant to leave. Despite praise from the Idol jury, it wasn't enough. Both the jury and the host were noticeably sad about having to send Söderholm home.
It feels tough, I don't feel finished. It's an honor to do this with Lollo (Louise Lennartsson, ed. note) and stand in front of you and get all the applause, says Lukas Söderholm.
Next week, the competition continues for the remaining six contestants, where the theme will be Disney.
The final will take place on December 7.
Corrected: In an earlier version, Ella Ekholm's first name was incorrect in several places.
