Wrote History – Three Weeks After Birth

Less than three weeks after becoming a mom, Emma Berglund stepped onto the football pitch. She thereby wrote history as the first player with eight national championship gold medals on the women's side. Super cool, she says.

The 35-year-old was substituted in during extra time in Rosengård's 3-0 win over Djurgården. The brief appearance means she can call herself Swedish champion 2024.

The championship gold is her eighth – the most of all on the women's side.

What an entrance, not a mistake, I think, Emma Berglund jokes after the match.

On Monday, it will be three weeks since she gave birth. She has missed the entire season due to her pregnancy and is grateful that the club managed to find a solution with the brief appearance.

We've joked about it a bit during the year, that "what an amazing thing if you could make an appearance", but you didn't really know how it would turn out with the birth and everything, says Berglund.

But it still feels important to be able to feel that you're involved more than just standing on the sidelines.

Much of Saturday focused on Caroline Seger, Rosengård's midfield icon who is now ending her career. And for Berglund, it's also game over. And she can at least be happy that she's leaving the sport with one more championship gold than Seger.

Yes, she has so much else, haha.

Seger is such a fantastic soccer player, person, friend, and role model. If there's anyone who deserves it, it's her.
