Västerås relegated to Superettan: Not good enough

Two matches remain of Allsvenskan. For Västerås, however, it is "over" – and next year awaits play in Superettan. We have not been good enough, says coach Kalle Karlsson after 1–2 against Djurgården.

Västerås needed at least one point to keep the hope of continued Allsvenskan play for a while longer.

Three points would have been preferred, however.

The match in Stockholm yielded zero.

Thus, Västerås' season is "over". The club cannot reach the possibility of qualifying to stay – instead, planning for play in Superettan next season awaits.

Right now, it's just empty. When you look back on the season, there are things you feel have been against us, but in the end, it boils down to us not being good enough, we haven't made the cut, says coach Kalle Karlsson to Max.

We haven't scored enough goals.

Västerås started strong and took the lead via Abdelrahman Boudah in the 22nd minute.

That was it.

Djurgården's Tokmac Nguen provided a fine equalizer in the first half, and Deniz Hümmet thundered in 2–1 early in the second.

They had better finishes than us. During the first half, we had periods that were really good, but in the second, we didn't get to any dangerous situations, says Karlsson.
