The American Foreign Minister Antony Blinken urged the Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant on Monday not to escalate the situation with Lebanon further.
The urging came in connection with the ministers meeting during Gallant's visit to Washington, according to a statement from Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US Foreign Office.
The situation at the Israeli-Lebanese border is tense with almost daily shelling from both sides.
