The scope of the American attacks during the night to Saturday is difficult to assess, but according to news sources under Huthi control, they were directed against the capital Sana and against the northern regions of al-Jawf and Sadah. One person is reported to have been killed in Sadah and it is said to have been a civilian.
The USA appears to have stepped up its military efforts against Yemen further. An escalation occurred earlier, parallel to the war in Gaza, when the Huthi movement began attacking ships in the Red Sea in what it described as a solidarity action with the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
Extends further
The Trump administration in the USA seems to be going further in the country's intervention in Yemen than the previous Biden administration did, according to an analysis made by the news agency AP of the events of the past few weeks.
Where the USA previously attacked military launch ramps primarily, attacks are now also being made against individual high-ranking persons on the opposing side, and also in urban environments.
The opportunities for outsiders to follow each individual attack are limited. The USA has so far only mentioned a few, and the Huthi movement has strict control over events on the ground and is assumed to want to conceal any military setbacks. They have so far announced 58 dead in the recent attacks.
Written in the shadow of war
An American attack recently attracted particular attention due to the chat chaos that arose on the American side, when a journalist accidentally joined a group chat where American government top officials were discussing attacks on Yemen.
In the attack, a high-ranking Huthi leader is reported to have been killed in the bombing of a residential building.
AP has studied satellite images and noted that the USA has moved several of its heavier B2 bombers so that they have Yemen within range.
