The leading indexes on the New York Stock Exchange rose on Friday.
The broad S&P 500 index and the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index both rose 0.5 percent, while the Dow Jones industrial index rose 0.1 percent.
Travel site Expedia presented quarterly figures that showed a better result than expected, and the stock rose 10.2 percent.
The report from game company Take-Two Interactive was also well received and closed 4.4 percent up.
Pharmaceutical manufacturer Eli Lilly presented a strong interim report on Thursday and rose 9.5 percent. The increase continued on Friday, and the stock increased 5.5 percent.
Processor manufacturer Intel has had its credit rating lowered by Moody's, writes The Wall Street Journal. The stock fell 3.8 percent.
For the entire past week, the Dow Jones fell 0.6 percent and Nasdaq 0.2 percent. The S&P 500 was marginally down.
