It was upward for several leading stock exchange indexes in Asia in Tuesday's initial trading.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index was up 0.4 percent and the broader Topix index up 0.8.
In China, the composite indexes in Shanghai and Shenzhen showed slightly different tendencies, with Shanghai up 0.2 percent and Shenzhen down 0.1 percent.
In Hong Kong, which had been closed on Monday, the Hang Seng index was up 0.8 percent.
