For 16 years, the hotel business has been operated in the rebuilt jumbo jet at the entrance to Arlanda airport, but with debts of over 4.3 million kronor, the hotel was declared bankrupt earlier this year.
The bankruptcy administrator's hope was to find someone who could continue to operate the business, but Swedavia, which owns the land, has said no to renewing the lease, writes UNT.
The property has, however, been difficult to get rid of.
There was no money in the bankruptcy estate that allowed us to handle the removal of an airplane. Then we simply had to leave the plane on the ground for handling, says bankruptcy administrator Daniel Svensson to the magazine.
If a property in a bankruptcy is expensive to get rid of, the administrator has the possibility to "abandon" - i.e. to abandon the object.
Now, it is the responsibility of the landowner Swedavia to handle the old aircraft wreck. Charlotte Lundgren, marketing and sales manager, writes in an email to UNT that they are now "working further with the issue based on this message".
