Over 50 universities in the USA will be investigated for suspected discrimination against white and Asian students, announces the Education Department. The investigations are a part of the Trump administration's policy to abolish programs for diversity, equality, and inclusion.
The announcement comes a month after the universities were threatened with losing federal grants due to "race-based preferences" regarding admissions, scholarships, etc.
A large part of the investigations focuses on 45 educational institutions that collaborate with an organization called Ph.D. Project. The organization's purpose is to get students from underrepresented groups to take degrees in economics, in order to increase diversity within the business sector.
