The Government is classifying two new substances, rilmazafon and rilmazolam, on the advice of the Medical Products Agency.
"In 2022 and 2023, four deaths in Sweden have been linked to the intake of rilmazafon. In all cases, the National Board of Forensic Medicine assessed that rilmazolam had caused or contributed to the deaths. Therefore, it is urgent to now classify the substances as narcotics", says Minister for Health and Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed (KD) in a press release.
When rilmazafon enters the body, it is converted into rilmazolam, which has psychoactive effects.
