The Republican presidential candidate has long emphasized the need for a commission led by successful entrepreneurs and said that such a commission would be established if he becomes president.
Now, he has found his ideal candidate in Tesla CEO Elon Musk. It was Musk himself who expressed his interest, and on Thursday, Trump again highlighted the possibility of cooperation.
"I look forward to serving the USA if given the opportunity. No salary, no title, no recognition needed", he wrote on X.
And in a meeting with business leaders in New York, Trump seized on the words and said that he would like to see such a solution and that Musk had agreed to lead the proposed commission, reports Wall Street Journal.
My plan will combat inflation, quickly lower prices, and breathe life into explosive economic growth, said Trump, according to CNBC, and promised that his commission would "totally eliminate" unnecessary government payments within six months.
Prior to the 2020 presidential election, Elon Musk gave his support to President Joe Biden, but he has since moved towards the political right.
In July this year, he instead backed Donald Trump, and in August, he conducted an interview in a friendly tone with the presidential candidate on his platform X.
