Trelleborg relegated - MFF headed for the top women's league

The newcomer Trelleborg needed to win away against Växjö to keep the hope of a rescued Damallsvenskan contract alive for a while longer, but the Scanians had to settle for 1–1. As a result, Trelleborg falls out of the country's top football league, which is expected to get Malmö FF as a newcomer next year.

The Jumbo has not won a match in 22 rounds and has only three points through three drawn matches. There is a 12-point gap up to Örebro on the qualifying spot with the same number of points left to play, but on Sunday it will also be mathematically settled for Trelleborg since Örebro will then face the second-to-last AIK (also 15 points).

It is almost certain that Malmö FF will play in the women's top division next season. Malmö won away against Eskilstuna with 1–0 and now have a 12-point lead over third-place Umeå with four matches left to play. Apart from Umeå having to catch up 12 points on MFF in the remaining rounds, the team must also make up a 22-goal difference with Malmö.

Alingsås had the chance to secure promotion to the women's top division with a win at home against Mallbacken, but it ended in a 1–1 draw for the Västgötaland team. Alingsås is second in the table in the elite division on 54 points – 11 ahead of Umeå on the qualifying spot.

MFF is the new league leader on 55 points. The Scanian giant club restarted its women's team in division 4 ahead of the 2020 season and has taken four consecutive series wins.
