One person died and several were seriously injured in the accident on the rollercoaster Jetline at Gröna Lund in June 2023. This occurred during the accident journey.
At 11:36 – the train starts
A train with eleven passengers starts on the rollercoaster. When the train has travelled approximately a third of the track, it malfunctions.
The arm breaks
The cause of the accident is that the arm at the front of the train, which is used, among other things, to steer the train along the track, breaks. The undercarriage of the front carriage then starts hitting the track.
Parts of the arm come loose
The train continues to travel up a slope, but the right part of the arm and the wheel bogie come loose and fall off.
Forceful braking
As the train continues to travel, it hits the track with great force. This leads to forceful braking, which causes the passengers to be pressed forward against the safety bars.
The safety bars deform – one person falls out
The great pressure causes the safety bars to deform. In connection with this, a passenger in the fifth carriage is thrown out and falls 13 metres to the ground. The person later dies from their injuries.
The left part of the arm comes loose – two fall out
The train continues on the track, and in a sharp left turn, the left part of the front arm and wheel bogie also come loose. In the left turn, two people fall out. One falls to the ground and is seriously injured, the other lands on a beam with minor injuries.
Police, ambulance, and rescue services are alerted
After this, the train has slowed down so much that it finally stops, and the police, ambulance, and rescue services are alerted to the amusement park. Apart from those who fell out of the train, two people who remained in the carriages are seriously injured.
