The grenade hit a customer's foot as they were paying at the checkout, and rolled under the checkout where it exploded. The customer was seriously injured in the lower body and was hospitalized for a couple of weeks.
The 17-year-old is said to have been tasked with throwing in the grenade, and has confessed to the crime, but denies that the intention was to harm.
The district court, however, sentences the 17-year-old for, among other things, three counts of attempted murder to closed youth care for three years. The sentence would have been much longer if the person had not been so young at the time. The 17-year-old will also have to pay a total of over one million kronor in damages to the victims.
The 17-year-old is also convicted of aiding and abetting attempted murder, for an incident a few weeks earlier, when a 16-year-old fired shots at a residence in Haninge.
The 16-year-old is sentenced for attempted murder and aggravated weapons offense to closed youth care for one year and eight months.
A 27-year-old man is sentenced for multiple counts of aiding and abetting to twelve years in prison, including for booking taxi rides for the individuals who committed the crimes and other shootings. Another 17-year-old is sentenced for aiding and abetting the hand grenade attack to closed youth care for one year and eight months.
