The French musical film "Emilia Pérez" and the papal thriller "Konklaven" received the most BAFTA nominations from the British Film Academy, which has now presented its shortlist.
Sebastian Stan from the Swedish-Danish director Ali Abbasi's film "The Apprentice" retains his nomination in the category of best male lead, and Jeremy Strong for best supporting role. The film, about Donald Trump's early career, can still win a prize for best casting.
Denmark's Oscar submission, Magnus von Horn's film "The Girl with the Needle", is not included in the shortlist nominations for best non-English language film.
"Konklaven" is nominated in 12 categories, including best male actor for Ralph Fiennes, reports Variety. "Emilia Pérez" has eleven chances to win, including a nomination in the category of best female actor for Karla Sofía Gascón.
The BAFTA gala takes place in London on February 16.
