"Battlefield" returns to the present day. The next title in the war game series is set to take place in our own time, writes IGN.
A concept image released by publisher EA appears to depict a war-torn Europe, where both warships and helicopters participate in the battles.
It's the first time in nearly ten years that a "Battlefield" game is set in the present day, after the last three games' journeys to the future and back to the two World Wars.
For me, the peak of the "Battlefield" feeling is that time around "Battlefield 3" and "4". For nostalgic players like me, and even the developers, I believe that was the heyday, says EA executive Vince Zampella to IGN.
They are also planning to return to the 64-player-per-map format and to scrap the specialist job from the last game.
The game is being developed by Swedish Dice, which originally created "Battlefield", together with three other studios.
