Only during Tuesday evening and the night to Wednesday, an explosion occurred in Nyköping and one in Märsta north of Stockholm. Moreover, a suspected dangerous object was neutralized in Brandbergen south of Stockholm.

According to the police, the number of explosions so far in January is at the same high level as in December.

It follows the conflict areas for the criminals. When it escalates there, then the use of weapons escalates, says Pär Christianssén, head of national bomb protection.

During the first fourteen days of the year, eleven completed explosions occurred in the country. Moreover, 25 dangerous objects were secured during that period. For the entire December, 20 explosions occurred while 35 dangerous objects were seized.

Pär Christianssén says that there is a risk that the high level may persist.

We are working intensively to break this trend.

In most of the explosions, the objects are placed outside the buildings, but according to the police, it has become more common to try to get closer to the target.

Most explosions are made with hand grenades or pyrotechnics, while the use of civilian explosives has decreased.
