The Norwegian handball club Kristiansand Vipers is going bankrupt and withdrawing from the top league immediately. The news was announced by a tearful chairman at a press conference on Sunday evening.
Vipers have played their last home game. You can see from my facial expression that it hurts incredibly. We have done our best to preserve the club, says Peter Gitmark.
The club did not receive the 25 million Norwegian kronor needed to avoid bankruptcy.
The Swedish national team stars Jamina Roberts, Carin Strömberg, and Nina Koppang are thus left without a club – with just over a month to go until the European Championship in Austria, Hungary, and Switzerland, which begins on November 28.
