Mikael Ymer's failures in reporting his whereabouts led to a suspension that lasted for 18 months. Shortly after the news, the Swede announced that his career was over – a decision he later regretted.
In Luxembourg, the 26-year-old was back on the tennis court.
And he went all the way to win the ITF tournament, the level below the ATP and Challenger Tour, after 2–1 in the final against 18-year-old Norwegian Nicolai Budkov Kjær.
Mikael Ymer, who has been as high as 50th on the world ranking, won five matches in Luxembourg and next awaits Sweden's Davis Cup match against Australia at the Royal Tennis Hall, to be played on Friday and Saturday.
His brother, Elias Ymer, has, however, chosen to opt out of the Davis Cup tennis and criticized captain Simon Aspelin in connection with his decision.
"The captain and I had different views on how my preparation should look", wrote the 28-year-old on Instagram.
