The Government is to investigate how the tasks of the State's Centre for Architecture and Design (ArkDes) can be incorporated under the Modern Museum. Thomas Pålsson, Acting Director-General of the Patent and Registration Office, is to conduct the investigation.
"At a time when culture and cultural institutions are being challenged, among other things, by recession and by technological and pedagogical transformation pressure and changing audience patterns, the state administration needs to be cost-effective and purposefully organised," says Culture Minister Parisa Liljestrand (The Moderate Party) in a press release.
She believes that resources need to be released in order to "pool strength around core activities".
The purpose of the investigation is, among other things, to examine how a unified authority can become a stronger hub for art, architecture, design, and form, both nationally and internationally.
Thomas Pålsson is also to investigate whether the tasks of the State Art Council can be incorporated under the Modern Museum. The investigation is to be presented no later than 31 January 2025.
