"Unfortunately, I, after all the events surrounding the coach and after much consideration, have made the decision not to return to the Belgian national team under his leadership", writes Courtois on Instagram and continues:
"I understand my responsibility in all this, but despite that, when I look ahead, my lack of confidence in him will not contribute to a good atmosphere and working environment."
The conflict between the two parties began already last year, when the Real Madrid goalkeeper was allegedly stripped of the captain's armband in the national team. Thereafter, the quarrel became more and more public, after several statements in the media and on social media.
Then Tedesco claimed that he had tried to talk to the goalkeeper, while Courtois claimed that he was lying.
And after the 32-year-old was subsequently dropped from the European Championship squad last summer, despite being one of the world's best goalkeepers, he had had enough.
Tedesco meant, however, that he wanted to focus on players who were in form, rather than Courtois, who had been injured for most of last season.
