The origin of the murder early on Monday evening, April 10, is, according to the indictment, that the man confronted three youths at a pedestrian tunnel in Skärholmen in southern Stockholm.
What we know is that one of the three says something when Mikael and his son cycle by. When they parked their bicycles, Mikael decided to go back, said prosecutor Ove Jäverfelt when the charges in the case were brought.
A verbal altercation arose between Mikael and the youths in the pedestrian tunnel, which ended with the fatal shooting.
The murder is described in the indictment as particularly ruthless, since the man was shot in front of his son, who was about 60 meters away.
The 18-year-old defendant is alleged to have fled on a bicycle on which his DNA was later found after the murder.
More than two months after the shooting, what is believed to be the murder weapon was also found in a basement storage room in Skärholmen. The pistol had DNA from two people, including the 18-year-old.
The man, 17 years old at the time of the incident, is linked by the police to a criminal network called Skärholmsfalangen.
He has long been involved in criminal circles and the police assess that he was criminally active already at the age of 13, as stated in a 2021 LVU decision.
Four more people are charged, suspected of gross protection of a criminal and aiding and abetting gross protection of a criminal.
The 18-year-old denies the murder but admits to gross weapons offense. He claims to have test-fired the weapon earlier in April, but denies being present at the murder. The other four deny everything.
