The 37-year-old man is suspected of a new rape of normal degree, according to the newspaper.
The police confirm that a report has been made and that a person has been arrested, but cannot confirm that it concerns the so-called Nytorgsman.
The Nytorgsman was convicted in February 2022 by the Svea Court of Appeal. There, the district court's previous sentence of five years' imprisonment for, among other things, seven rapes, eight sexual assaults, and six cases of sexual harassment was upheld.
Filmed assaults
Many of the crimes were committed in the man's home at Nytorget on Södermalm in Stockholm, and on several occasions, he filmed assaults on apparently sleeping or unconscious women.
Despite the man misbehaving during his prison sentence and the risk of relapse being assessed as high, he was conditionally released in March this year after serving two-thirds of his sentence.
Conditions for his release included that he would have daily check-ins with his contact in Skåne and report where he intended to spend the following night. He also had a curfew in the evenings and nights.
Concern after Malmö move
He was banned from residing on Södermalm in Stockholm upon his release.
Reports that he had moved to Malmö created great concern among women in the spring. Among other things, Sydsvenskan reported that women had started a forum where they warned each other.
Lund District Court has appointed lawyer Anna Carlén as public defender in a case related to the police report of the suspected rape in Skåne. In the trial against the so-called Nytorgsman in Södertörn District Court in 2021, she was his defender. TT is seeking the lawyer and also the prosecutor in the case.
Corrected: Incorrect information in earlier versions that the man had removed his ankle monitor has been removed.
The man was charged with 24 rapes, one of which was considered aggravated by the prosecutor.
In November 2021, the man was sentenced by Södertörn District Court to five years' imprisonment for seven rapes: three cases of rape of normal degree, two less serious rapes, and two cases of the new crime of negligent rape. He was also convicted of eight sexual assaults, six sexual harassments, one gross violation of a woman's integrity, and other crimes.
The court also decided that the man should pay damages totaling approximately 1.1 million kronor.
The man was acquitted in the district court of eight rapes against five different plaintiffs. One of these concerned the rape that the prosecutor considered aggravated.
The Svea Court of Appeal upheld the district court's verdict in its entirety in February 2022.
