Three Swedish Universities Ranked in World's Top 100

Karolinska Institute is among the 50 best universities in the world. Two other Swedish universities are on the list of the 100 best, according to this year's Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) or the Shanghai ranking.

Compared to last year, however, Karolinska Institutet is falling back, from place 43 to place 50. Uppsala University ends up in place 93 – from last year's 88. Stockholm University, however, leaves the group 101-150, and moves up to place 100.

Harvard in the USA ends up in first place, for the twenty-third year in a row.

The ARWU list has been made since 2003, with a focus on research, such as the number of published scientific articles and Nobel Prizes. It is made by the organization Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.
