Henrik Landerholm firmly denies the allegations against him. I would have liked to see the prosecutor discontinue the preliminary investigation and come to the conclusion that no charges should be brought. That would, considering the content of the preliminary investigation, have been the natural thing, he says.

The government's former security adviser Henrik Landerholm is prosecuted for negligence with secret information, after having forgotten a number of documents at a conference center in March 2023.

On Friday afternoon, the trial began, when a so-called evidence hearing was held in Attunda district court.

It is of course something new for me to be in court and it is not solely positive, says Landerholm.

His lawyer Johan Eriksson says that Landerholm denies the crime.

We deny everything. I claim that he has not acted carelessly in the way that is required. It requires intentional carelessness. I claim that the documents or information in themselves do not constitute a threat to the country's security as the prosecutor claims, says Eriksson.

Secret information is one thing, but that the information is secret in the way that the prosecutor claims we dispute.

About the evidence hearing that was held today, Johan Eriksson says.

We are very pleased with it. It went exactly as we had hoped, maybe a little better.

The main hearing in the case begins now on Monday, August 18.

Landerholm resigned in January this year. In addition to the incident at the conference center, which the prosecution is about, it has also emerged that he has forgotten a notebook at Swedish Radio and that he has also forgotten his mobile phone at the Hungarian embassy.
