LO on Million Support to S: There is a Discontent

The LO has opened up to withdraw the million kronor support to the Social Democrats during the autumn. But when a potential decision on the matter can become actual is unclear, says chairman Johan Lindholm.

We have a situation where we meet people in worry and meet that there is a discontent among very many precisely because of the connection between LO and the Social Democrats, says Johan Lindholm in connection with a press conference.

If it ultimately leads to the disappearance of this financing or not is a question for the board, he adds.

According to Lindholm, the question is alive, but there is no exact timetable for when a decision will be made.

We are discussing it and continue to talk about it, and when it is on the table, we will make a decision.

Six million kronor of LO's membership fees go directly to the Social Democrats every year. The trade union support has, however, decreased over time.

Most of the LO unions have stopped giving money to the party. According to the newspaper Arbetet, it was about three unions last year.

It is important to note that we own and control our funds and we will use our funds for what is required to get this country in the right direction, says Johan Lindholm.
