A new podcast series delves into the effects of antidepressant medication, which is currently used by 1.2 million Swedes. "The Last Pill" follows journalist Johan Cedersjö, who at the age of 28 began medicating against his severe anxiety.
"The medication changed everything for me. I went from wanting everything to end to being able to meet love, start a family, take my place at work and socially. I became a different person," says Johan Cedersjö in a press release.
After ten years, he decides to stop – and in eight episodes, the listener can follow his tapering off. It also becomes a deep dive into the public health issue, where placebo effects, overprescription, and marketing of medications are examined.
