The allocation has previously been SEK 6 million, and the initiative is now permanent in the state budget.

The goal is for more people to be able to participate in the activities, "not least students and schools in areas where exclusion is great and who have taken part in the initiatives to a lesser extent", the government writes in a press release.

This year marks 80 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

"As more and more survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust leave us, we must pass on the memory of the Holocaust to new generations, in a new era", says Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand (The Moderate Party) in the press release.
