"A expected and welcome message", says Klas Granström, in Expressen.

It was in the autumn of 2022 that Expressen investigated the climate activists who had blocked traffic on the E4 outside Stockholm. The climate action had, among other things, resulted in an ambulance with an acute patient getting stuck in the queues.

In a fact box in Expressen's investigation, it was described what crimes one of the activists was suspected and prosecuted for after previous actions, including sabotage and violations of aviation law. This included information about prosecution for violent resistance that had been dismissed in a verdict the day before publication.

The District Court considered the incorrect information to be defamation and sentenced Granström to day fines.

According to the Court of Appeal, it "could not reasonably be demanded of Expressen" to investigate before publication whether the prosecution was still ongoing.
