Maria Arnholm, governor of Kronoberg and former government minister, according to her employment contract has the right to compensation for bus or train travel between home and work.
Taxi rides are not included. Despite this, the governor has since 2020 taken taxis for 82,000 kronor between her home in Stockholm and the central station and had the regional administration pay, according to P4 Kronoborg.
Now, the regional administration has launched an investigation that will among other things show whether Arnholm herself should cover the taxi rides, according to the channel. Until the investigation is complete, her taxi rides have been paused.
The taxi rides are a benefit that would have been taxable, Arnholm admits, who has now submitted corrections to the Tax Agency.
Arnholm has been secretary general of the Liberal Party and minister for gender equality in the Reinfeldt government.
