Jamie Oliver's children's book "Billy and the epic escape" is being withdrawn, reports The Guardian.
The decision comes after the book was criticized for contributing to a stereotypical and colonial image of Australia's indigenous people.
"I am crushed to hear that I have caused offense and sincerely apologize for doing so", said the celebrity chef in a statement to The Guardian earlier this weekend.
"Billy and the epic escape" was released earlier this year. It depicts, among other things, how a girl from a foster home in Alice Springs, an Australian city known for its Aboriginal culture, is abducted by the book's antagonist, and it is this part of the story that has prompted the criticism.
