Tesla is updating 1.68 million cars electronically in China, reports the news agency AP. According to previous information, the new software will be sent to cars in large parts of the world, to ensure that the car warns the driver when the front trunk is not locked.
The concern is that an unlocked trunk lid can fly up during driving and block the driver's view. The problem has not resulted in any accidents as far as is known.
In China, the update affects certain Model S and Model X vehicles imported from the USA, as well as domestically produced Model 3 and Model Y vehicles manufactured between October 15, 2020, and July 17, 2024.
