A court in Romania's capital Bucharest has decided that influencer Andrew Tate is allowed to leave Romania but must stay within the EU while awaiting trial. Tate is charged with, among other things, rape and organizing a criminal group for the sexual exploitation of women.

After Friday's decision, Tate wrote on X:

"I'm free. For the first time in three years, I can leave Romania. This bluff process is falling apart".

The former professional kickboxer gained significant influence in the so-called "manosphere" environment on the internet, which claimed to offer a form of self-help for young men. He has been banned from social media on several occasions but has, thanks to his many supporters, been able to spread his content through fan accounts.

Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in Romania in December 2022 and were placed under house arrest. After an appeal in August 2023, he has been able to move freely within the country's borders.
