A new political knife attack has occurred in German Mannheim, according to German media.
It is said to have been a candidate for the right-wing extremist AFD in Sunday's local election who was stabbed in the evening. The perpetrator has been arrested.
According to the party, the candidate confronted someone who was tearing down election posters, but was then stabbed. He has been admitted to the hospital.
Caution is high in Germany due to several political incidents in recent times, including one with a suspected Islamist motive, in Mannheim.
The local elections are being held at the same time as the EU parliamentary elections in many parts of Europe this week.
