It was on December 17 that it was discovered that a hatch to a water reservoir in Bollebygd was not locked. Around 800 affected residents received restrictions on water usage and water tanks were placed.
On Friday, the final test results came in and the restrictions on water usage in Olsfors and Hultafors in Bollebygd were lifted.
"Have been patient"
For over two weeks, residents have not been able to drink or use tap water for cooking.
Our municipal residents have had a special situation and we appreciate their patience. It feels nice to be able to drink the water and use it for cooking now, says Ulf Krüger.
The incident led to an enhancement of security at the municipality's drinking water facilities.
We chose to immediately replace the locks on all drinking water facilities. We will also reinforce protection with means that we have previously received from the municipality.
The incident has also had other effects.
It has given us a useful experience in crisis management. There are a lot of people involved in this. It has been an incredibly good cooperation between residents, municipal employees, and neighboring municipalities, says the administrative manager.
Investigated by police
In Tranemo, restrictions were also introduced on drinking water after an alarm on December 23 about a broken lock on a raw water intake. These restrictions were lifted on December 30.
In Bollebygd, the incident is being investigated as suspected sabotage. In Tranemo, it is being investigated as an attempted suspected sabotage.
Given the current situation, we take it very seriously in both cases, regardless of whether it is an attempt or suspected sabotage, has Fredrik Svedemyr, press spokesperson for Police Region West, previously said to TT.
