Systembolaget stops digital ID: "Not safe"

As of Friday, November 15, it is no longer possible to use digital ID when shopping at Systembolaget.

Systembolaget stops digital ID: "Not safe"

The method is not considered safe enough, and now the use of digital ID cards via Bank-ID in stores and with agents is being paused.

"There have been reports of highly sophisticated forgeries of digital ID cards in recent weeks, and we ourselves have had a few incidents in stores," writes Systembolaget on its website.

Sales Manager Mattias Särmalm says that he understands if the measure can be seen as inconvenient for customers, but that it is necessary.

"We will resume digital ID cards from Bank-ID as an identification option as soon as we have the opportunity to make the check in a sufficiently safe way."

Systembolaget introduced digital ID as proof of identity in September last year.
