Several asset classes declined, but the downturn was primarily driven by a negative development on the stock market.
Looking at the whole of 2024, the development was strong, and households' net wealth increased by 1,900 billion kronor, which was a larger increase than the average over the past decade.
"The fourth quarter was characterized by both stock market turbulence following the US presidential election and a negative housing price development. Together, they created a somewhat gloomy ending to a 2024 that otherwise became a strong wealth year for households," says SEB's private economist Américo Fernández in a press release.
