Norway is initiating preparations for Swedish and Norwegian police to patrol together as a measure to combat gang crime. This is according to Norway's Minister of Justice Emilie Enger Mehl (Sp).

We will ensure that the police have more joint operations and joint patrols with Swedish police. This is something the police themselves have signaled that they want, says Mehl to Norwegian TV2.

She is in Copenhagen to attend a meeting with Sweden's Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer and her Danish colleague Peter Hummelgaard.

Norwegian police have also decided to assign personnel from their national crime unit Kripos to the National Operational Department (Noa) in Sweden. A collaboration on increased exchange of intelligence information has already begun and Denmark will join the collaboration this autumn.
