The proposal means that a prosecutor will be able to decide on restrictions for a gang criminal, without the measures being linked to a conviction for a specific crime.
The Social Democrats' law policy spokesperson Teresa Carvalho compares the proposal to the possibility prosecutors have today to issue residence bans for criminals in certain areas.
The restrictive measures can involve bans on meeting other gang criminals, bans on traveling abroad, bans on starting a business, and restrictions on transferring money.
The party executive will present the proposal at the party congress at the end of May and plans to run on it.
The party executive also proposes that a risk family program be established to stop the recruitment of children and young people to gangs.
The idea is that the program will build on the child healthcare provided by child health centers, BVC, including home visits.
This is a major and far-reaching reform, says Teresa Carvalho.
The aim is to early detect families that need support so that children are not drawn into crime. Such families will then be followed during the children's upbringing.
It is important to closely follow families and catch warning signals, says Carvalho.
Warning signals can be violence in the home, absent fathers, or substance abuse problems. This should lead to early support from multiple directions in society, such as schools and social services.
