The attacks were carried out after TV4's Kalla Fakta's scrutiny of the party, which showed that the Sweden Democrats run secret accounts on social media. In a speech, party leader Jimmie Åkesson called the scrutiny a "domestic influence operation from the collective left-liberal establishment".
In the analysis, the party writes that "available data shows that the attempts to increase the conflict level against TV4 had no effect whatsoever". Furthermore, it is written that the party "made an incorrect assessment" regarding media criticism.
