According to the police in Orlando, USA, the man pretended to be an assistant to an NBA basketball player when he visited the jewelry store. This allowed him to see "very exclusive jewelry" in a VIP room on February 26 this year.
The man allegedly distracted the store staff to then flee the store, where he also dropped a diamond ring worth nearly six million Swedish kronor, reports BBC.
When the police later arrested him the same day, he was seen "swallowing several objects believed to be the stolen earrings". In custody, the man then asked the staff: "Will I be prosecuted for what's in my stomach?"
For two weeks, the man was monitored at a hospital where the police were finally able to secure all four earrings on March 12.
