Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated in southern China due to the heavy monsoon rains that bring floods and landslides.

In the province of Guangdong, the capital Guangzhou has been hit by a landslide. Of 14 people buried in the rubble, one has been confirmed dead.

Over 75,000 people have been evacuated on Wednesday, according to state-owned CCTV, which shows people wading in water up to their waists. In the neighboring Guangxi province, residential areas and shops have been flooded.

The authorities have activated a relief effort for Guangdong. The government has also earmarked funds for reconstruction in the province, which has been severely affected by the downpours.

At least 44 people died in rainy weather in the capital Beijing last week.
