Special forces with around 300 police officers struck against the group in dawn raids in Bavaria, Saxony and Thuringia, according to the criminal police in Bavaria for the news agency DPA.
The three arrested men have connections to the nobleman Heinrich XIII Prinz Reuß, whom the "Reichsbürger" supporters want to install as leader after having abolished the current system of government with violence. The men are suspected of membership in a terrorist organization and are, among other things, believed to have trained with weapons at a former military shooting range in order to prepare themselves for an armed attack on the federal parliament in Berlin.
The "Reichsbürger" movement, which is already the subject of three major terrorist investigations, does not recognize the Federal Republic of Germany. Instead, the group believes that the German Empire, which ceased to exist as a state after the capitulation of the Hitler regime in 1945, still exists.
