A suspected dangerous object was found in Märsta center north of Stockholm at lunchtime on Wednesday. The National Bomb Squad was called in and the object was assessed as live.

According to information to TV4 News, it is about a suspected hand grenade, but it is not something the police want to confirm.

We do not comment at present on what kind of object it is, other than that the assessment has been made that it was live, says Stockholm police's press spokesperson Nadya Norton.

The incident is being investigated as a crime against the law on flammable and explosive goods and preparation for general destruction.
