Stockholm City is stopping its support to Ibn Rushd. At the beginning of September, the Swedish National Council of Adult Education withdrew the state grants for the next three years to the criticized Muslim study association.
We will follow the Swedish National Council of Adult Education's recommendation, which means that Ibn Rushd will no longer receive support from Stockholm City, says Finance Commissioner Karin Wanngård (S) in the Municipal Council in response to a question from Opposition Commissioner Christofer Fjellner (M).
Several municipalities and regions have previously withdrawn their support to Ibn Rushd after an investigation by the Swedish National Council of Adult Education in December. In Stockholm, there have been several rounds where the red-green government has paused payments but then resumed them, something that Fjellner has been critical of.
Stockholm City's planned support to the study association amounted to 1.3 million kronor this year.
