The leading stock exchanges in Asia were up after a few hours of trading on Friday.
In Tokyo, the important Nikkei 225 index had risen by 1 percent and the broader Topix index had risen by 0.8 percent.
The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong was also up, by 0.5 percent. The composite indices in Shanghai and Shenzhen had risen by 0.9 and 1.1 percent, respectively, by lunchtime.
