Stop Cheating – Register Passengers in Taxis

Fraud within the taxi industry is to be stopped through a range of new measures, proposes the Social Democrats.

Among these, for example, is that taxis should be equipped with seat sensors that register the presence of passengers during driving distances. The taxis should have GPS where data is made available to the police and the Tax Authority. Furthermore, mobile apps for taxi rides should be connected to the taxi meter, according to the Social Democrats.

The proposals already exist within the taxi industry in Denmark, it is pointed out in a press release.

"Everyone can see that the taxi industry is dysfunctional. The drivers who work for the app companies work under slave-like conditions while tax evasion and driving times are being cheated on a scale that ultimately poses a traffic hazard", says Ardalan Shekarabi, labor market policy spokesperson for the Social Democrats, in a press release.

"We must put a stop to this, and it's urgent."
