The police traditionally had to deal with several cases related to brawls and intoxication on Midsummer's Eve. In Äspered outside Borås, two men were arrested on suspicion of stealing several hot tubs.
The arrest took place after a private individual raised the alarm after seeing two people loading hot tubs and lawn mowers onto a large trailer.
They stole three to four lawn mowers and four hot tubs, says August Brandt, at the police in Region Väst, to Expressen.
It was commendable work by the caller who made it possible for us to catch these people so quickly.
The two arrested individuals are in their 20s and 40s and are suspected of gross theft. According to P4 Sjuhärad, they have been detained.
Several Assault Cases
Otherwise, the police in Region Väst handled several assault cases and a large fight that broke out in Fjällbacka.
A large number of people were fighting, a security guard tried to get control of the situation but failed, says August Brandt to Bohusläningen. Two people were arrested after the fight.
In other police regions, there was also a lot to do during the Midsummer night. In Hede in Härjedalen, a suspected assault took place at a party, after a man allegedly hit someone with a blunt object. The man was arrested by the police on suspicion of gross assault.
In Växjö, the police were alerted to a burglary at a villa. Five boys between 13 and 15 years old were found in the area, with suspected stolen goods. A 15-year-old boy was arrested by the police.
Intoxication and Drunk Driving
The police have also dealt with several cases related to intoxication. In Norrbotten, eight people were taken into custody according to the law on taking into custody of intoxicated persons (LOB). In Piteå, a man is suspected of gross drunk driving after crashing a quad bike.
In Västerbotten, four people were taken into custody according to LOB, and in Värmland, the police report that three people are suspected of drunk driving after two accidents with quad bikes.
During the evening and night, three people also died in three separate traffic accidents in the country. The fatal accidents occurred in Kiruna, Örkelljunga, and at Löt on Öland.
However, SOS Alarm reports that there were fewer alarm calls than usual during Midsummer's Eve.
