People who enlist must do so in Stockholm, Gothenburg or Malmö. But in 2026, a fourth testing office will open in Umeå, according to several media outlets.
This will result in better geographical distribution and reduced workload for the current offices.
There is also a preparedness reason, not to be solely based in metropolitan areas, says Christina Malm, Director-General of the Conscription and Testing Agency, to Dagens Nyheter.
The office will also be used for tests for police training.
